Strings Pack
Can anyone help me with guitar strings?
I need to know what the difference is between the strings. One pack has 12 16 25 32 42 52 on the bottom and the other has 13 17 26 35 46 56 first what does it mean what is the difference and which is better?
The pack with 12 16 25, etc are lighter gauge (thinner) strings than the 13 17 26, etc. The numbers tell you the diameter of the string -- .12 inch, .16 inch, .25 inch, etc.
All else being equal, the lighter gauge strings, being thinner and more flexible, are usually a little easier to push down and slightly less painful on your poor sore newbie fingertips than the heavier gauge strings.
OTOH, the heavier gauge strings generally give you a fuller, richer tone than light gauge strings.
There's not likely to be that much difference between a string set with a .12 E string and a set with a .13 E string. OTOH, if you were comparing a string set with a .10 E string and a set with a .13 E string, you would definitely notice the lighter gauge strings being easier to push down and the heavier strings having a fuller tone.

How much does a pack of sitar strings cost? What is the cheapest price?
I'm just wondering because I bought a pack of violin strings for 15 dollars, because the rest were around 30 or 40 dollars. guitar strings were cheaper. Since a sitar is more of an exotoc instrument im just wondering
Sitar strings are a little different than guitar or violin. There are only a couple of different gauges of wire used on a sitar so most players buy piano wire by the roll and cut their own to length. It's quite inexpensive when bought by the pound. The end is hand tied in a loop. A friend who makes harp strings showed me how to make a neat little jig that fits in a power drill which will wind and tie the end of a string much better than you can do by hand. It's easy to make, I can send you a photo if you're interested.
Sitar strings *are* available in sets, but remember that there are upwards of 18-21 strings. Even in the sets, you'll only get the 7 main strings cut to length and just a roll to make your own sympathetic strings.
