Guitar Strings Ukulele How to tune a ukulele using a standard guitar tuner?
I need to know how to tuner a ukulele using a standard guitar tuner. for example my tuner tells me sharp or flat from the note and then what string, so if I play the high E string the first string, the smallest string, it says E1, what would each string on a ukulele register as?....
I'm not sure how to use a standard tuner, but check out this website if you can do it by ear.

If you it listens to the tone through a mic and not the jack port, the notes are GCEA. Sorry I can't provide more info.
Along with Sol Hoopii, King Bennie Nawahi was the undisputed master of Hawaiian steel guitar music in the 1920s and '30s. His lyrical playing and virtuosic solos were as jazzy as the guitar playing of Django Reinhardt and his repertoire ranged from island tunes to Tin Pan Alley to the blues...

Is there much of a difference between playing the guitar and the ukulele?
If there is could you tell me if it is difficult to learn to play the ukulele when you can play the guitar.
I play the guitar but haven't got a whole lot of experience (I know a lot of chords and songs but still find a lot of songs challenging) and would like to learn a few songs on the ukulele.
Also if you know a song on the guitar can you just use the same chords to play it on a ukulele?
And finally, how many strings do ukuleles usually have?
there is not a huge difference between the two. The ukulele is tuned higher and so has much less sustain because of the size of the instruments body. I normally play a baritone ukulele because it has more sustain than a soprano, concert or tenor ukulele.
I am also a guitar player.
If you imagine playing a guitar with a capo across the 5th fret, the notes produced by the open strings are G, C, E and A. This is the regular tuning of a soprano/concert/tenor ukulele. Please note that the 4th string (the G) is higher than the C string which gives the re-entrant tuning of the ukulele.
So, with the strings having the same spaces as the top 4 strings of a guitar, the chords are the same, but you don't have the bottom 2 strings.
Imagine playing a standard guitar chord of G on only the top 4 strings of the guitar. Now do this on the 4 strings of the ukulele. You have a chord. Because the standard ukulele tuning is G, C, E and A you are playing a C chord (G, C, E and C)
You can play all the chords that you want or need including 7ths, minors, diminished, sus etc etc.
The baritone ukulele is tuned to the top 4 strings of a guitar (D, G, B, E) making the process a whole lot easier and doesn't use re-entrant tuning.
