Guitar String Set How do I get my harmonizer effect to make my 6 string guitar sounds like a 12 string guitar?
I have a harmonizer effect, but I don't know what setting I need to turn it to to make it sound like a 12 string guitar. What setting do I use (E? B? D? ect.) Thank you
I don't think you can do it. A 12 string guitar has pairs of strings, the lowest 4 pairs are one string an octave higher than the other. So you get this sort of 'resonating' effect. I don't know how you could get that same sound through electronic post-processing.

42 guitar string with a 10 gauge set?
I usually use 10 gauge strings on my guitar. Recently, I snapped one of my strings (the 46) and asked a friend to go pick up some more for me. My friend got a pack on 9 guage strings and the biggest string in there is a 42. It is okay to use a 42 with a 10 gauge set or should I just switch to the 9 gauge for now?
46 and 42 aren't that different. it's fine. buy go but a 10-46 set when you change all the strings.

Is there a difference between acoustic and electric strings for guitars?
I'm changing a broken string on my guitar and having never done this am wondering if there is a difference between electric and acoustic strings. I got some strings with my acoustic guitar as a present and would like to know if these strings are universal or if there's a difference. Thanks.
Guitar strings can be made of a variety of materials. Acoustic guitars can use both nylon strings and steel strings, though these strings are designed for specific types of guitars (classical guitars for nylon string, for example). Electric guitars also use steel strings, but there are differences between steel strings for electric and acoustic guitars.
So no, don't throw the acoustic string on your electric; even if they're both steel, they're different.

How to play my nylon string guitar with a missing string?
ok, i have no money and the last string on my guitar is missing..i've been trying to write my own music and teach myself how to play..any advice until i get a new string?
Get a new string put on FIRST before doing anything else. Since the string needs to stretch and will continue to stretch for 3-4 days, you can't play it because it will go out of tune fast. You will have to tune the guitar afterward, so at the music store buy a tuner if you don't already have one.
Would you try to drive a car if it didn't have a drivers seat door? I don't think so. You'd get a new door put in before heading out on the road.
