Soft Long hi can anyone tell me what it means for your cervix to be prosteria 2cm long and soft?
i have just been examined at labour ward with irregular contractions they wrote cervix prosteria 2cm long soft and os admits fingertip. i am 39 weeks and 4 days. just wondered what all this means
Ummm... well, if my memory serves me, I think that means that your cervix is effacing (getting shorter and softer in preparation for labor), but that it's still pointed toward the back (posterior). As you dilate farther, it will start to point to the front more (anterior). If you're about a fingertip dilated, that means you're at around 1cm. That could change, and it could even close back up before your labor actually begins.
Braxton-Hicks contractions can feel a lot like labor, so try and keep track of the time between them and how long they last. If they're regular for an hour, you may be in labor. I used to have hubby write them down, because it's easy to forget when the last one came when you're uncomfortable or in pain!
Best of luck to you! I hope this helps!

Sets Super How many sets are you supposed to do in a Super Slow workout?
With 20 second reps.... thanks
To be honest I can't see any benefit to allowing a repetion to last 20 seconds.
Research has proven that a total of 6 seconds per rep for strength is ideal, and 8 seconds for hypertrophy (building muscle) is best. With hypertrophy aim for 1-3 sets. For strength aim for 4-6 sets.
For hypertrophy, the eccentric (release) phase should last 4 seconds. The isometric (holding) phase should last 2 seconds. The concentric (main effort) phase should last 2 seconds. You should aim at around 8-12 repetitions.
For strength training all phases should last 2 seconds each.

Arte Classical Which singers have done the best versions of these Classical/Opera numbers?
"O Mio Babbino Caro" from Puccini's Gianni Schicchi.
"Habanera" from Bizet's Carmen.
"O Sole Mio" by Capurro/di Capua.
"Hojotoho! Heiaha (Ride of the Valkyries)" from Wagner's Die Walkure (The Valkyrie).
"Una Furtiva Lagrima" from Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore.
"Funiculi, funicula" by Denza/Turco.
Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro and Verdi's Don Carlo- I'm not sure which songs from these are the most recognizable, but some help would be most appreciated :]
I already have these penciled in (as to which songs I am going to burn onto one excellent CD:
O Patria Mia- Leontyne Price
Un Bel Di Verdremo- Maria Callas
Nessun Dorma- Pavarotti/Paul Potts (bc he's just so endearing!)
Libiamo ne Liet Calici- The Three Tenors
La Donna E Mobile- The Three Tenors
Cielo e Mar- Pavarotti
Vissi d'arte- Maria Callas
If you can think of anything I have missed or should have on my Super Cool Opera Mix, feel free to comment :]
Why the best? Is "very good" not good enough? There is no way of ranking music, especially performances of such worn out warhorses as the Habanera, which has been sung by practically every prima donna since the 1880s. I can give you some performances that I think are outstanding -
O mio babbino caro: Renata Tebaldi - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFypui1xKlk
Habanera: Grace Bumbry - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs0E2CufQ7c
O sole mio: Beniamino Gigli - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QG0HK1CTMQ
Una furtiva lagrima: Jussi Bjorling - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knPXlG1XrTY
Funiculi, funicula: Jussi Bjorling - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_Y6lBb6jus
As for the Ride of the Valkyries, it is an ensemble for nine singers, so I won't name any one singer. I can strongly recommend the Keilberth recording of Die Walkure, which is excellent throughout, especially in the Ride of the Valkyries.
And please, no matter how endearing Paul Potts may be, don't put his tiny cracked voice on the same level as Pavarotti...
DG has put together a fascinating compilation of Segovia's art that reminds us what a protean figure he was.
