Yamaha Guitar Strings

What are good guitar strings to get?
I have an electric Yamaha guitar. Not the best, I know, but it was all I could afford right now. This is the first time I've broken a string on it, and so I clearly need to buy new ones.
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on what brand to get? I want ones that are regular gauge, silver in colour, and have a nice clear sound to them.
Hello there,
Regular gauge? Not sure what that would be. The more common sets come in 9s 10s and 11s. The thinner sets, 9s, are nice if you do a lot of bending, but not so hot if you use drop tunings. If you do drop tunings, you will want at least 11s.
Frankly, I have never been concerned about the brand. I see some folks on here touting this brand or that. I don't really think the brand is all that important. Size is what I am concerned about. By the way, I am not alone in that thinking. I read once SRV did not care what brand of strings he played, all he cared about what what gauge they were.
I go through a lot of strings. Have a few guitars and play a fair amount. Change strings as they get old (number of playing hours). So, I always watch for a bargain deal on a lot of several sets of strings. Also keep a packet of extra 9s, 10s, 10.5s and 11s because the B and E strings are most likely to break.
My suggestion to you is to be concerned that the gauge of your strings matches your playing style and how you have your guitar set up. Color and brand name are not all that important.

Testing a new Yamaha guitar
How do I change the guitar strings on my yamaha?
It's got those white pegs and I just don't know how to get the white pegs out to change the string. HELP!!!
I assume you are referring to the pegs in the tail piece that hold the ball end of a steel string.
De-tune the string down and unwrap it from the tuning post so that you can get into the sound hole. Use something flat and sturdy to reach inside behind the bridge and push the pins out. Be very careful not to break them.
