Daddario Strings Is changing strings different with a thicker guage?
I bought some daddario 12-52 strings for my electric, and I cannot get them to go on. They're really buzzy and the D string keeps springing out of the nut. Help?!?
What gauge are you starting from?
More than a .001" step in gauge may require that the guitar get a new set-up. The string changing procedure is the same, but you will have to have the truss rod tightened, and possibly have the nut slots widened.
Sounds like you are not even close to getting them to tension, before threading the string in the post you need to pull out as much slack as you can, or else you will be turning the winder forever.

What grade of steel are stainless steel guitar strings manufactured from?
I'm doing a college project on vibrating guitar strings and their mode shapes/harmonics etc. I just need to know what steel grades are usually used for the strings, I'm dealing with a plain, uncoiled G string so no need to talk about string coilings. A general answer would be great, but if it helps here is the exact string I'm testing: http://store.daddario.com/category/152831/Plain_Steel_Singles
(Item # PL017). Thanks very much.
Hi grade machined s/s is 240?
