No I don't think that will work. The headset has to be in the controller that is signed into xbox live. If you are playing with a guitar controller and want to talk to your xbox live friends, it has to the one signed into xbox live.
The face plate for my les paul fell off/broke, and the guitar input jack was pulled off. Now, i realise this is a simple saolder operation, but all the sites i visit talk about two colored wires. Both the wires that were attached to the jack are grey, how to i procede on this. (btw, i dont want to pay for a guitar shop to solder two wires, yes, i am that cheap)
Pull the pvc and stuff back until you can see the two wires and where they come from. The shield of the guitar cable will be the wire that braids around the inside of the cable. Solder this wire to the ground (the metal part that clamps the wire). The wire that runs through the center of the cable is the hot output, I.E. your guitar signal. Solder this to the smaller metal tab. Make sure the two don't touch or you will ground out your signal.

For tone, go big. It's generally accepted that SRV used 013, .015, .019, .028, .038, .056. tuned Eb. he used some custom brand that he got from Rene Martinez, his tech. Later in SRV career, Rene convinced Stevie to go to lighter strings, 11.5s and these same exact strings while pricey can be bought through Rene' directly.
