Guitar Strings Yamaha C45m
What Brand of Strings to Use With My Guitar?
So Im a SUPER beginner. (Ive inly picked up my guitar once) I have a Yamaha c45m guitar, but the D string was broken by my friend. This guitar's three highest strings are clear nylon, and the three lowest are silver and APPEAR to be steel, but I read online that they are also technically nylon strings. What brand, gage...etc... Of strings do I need for this guitar? Can I buy only the D, and if so, what do I ask the music store for, exactly?? Thank you!
That's a classical guitar and it requires classical (nylon) strings. The three strings that "appear to be steel" are actually nylon core wrapped with a soft copper alloy.
You can buy individual strings if only one is broken. Just make absolutely sure it's a classical D string, not a steel one. I use and recommend Savarez 520R red card high tension strings.

I think this CD came out when all he was playing was acoustic guitar. So, he was probably playing an Ovation. That's pretty much all he's ever used for his acoustic work. He does occasionally run it through various pedals, guitar synths, etc. to get different sounds, but it's all acoustic guitar.
