Dr Strings
Can't feel strings on MIrena. Should I go to my Dr.?
I had the Mirena IUD placed 3 weeks ago. I tryed to check the strings this morning, and I can't feel them. I'm having cramps, but I'm not sure if it's because the Mirena moved, or because you're supposed to have cramps for the first 2 months. I'm quite paranoid. Please Help.
the reason idk if i want to go in is i have no insurance. ill have to go to planned parenthood and wait 3 hours to b seen.
wouldnt i see or feel it if it was expelled? it doesnt hurt that bad, and i havent seen anything....
Definitely call your doctor's office.
If it's shifted, it should still act as a contraceptive for the time being, as it contains hormones, but it might be more likely to perforate your uterus so you should make sure it's still there. The cramping could also be due to the fact that you suddenly DON'T have hormones because you've expelled the unit...which is why you can't feel the strings.
I'd recommend using backup contraception until you can be seen.
