How do you know when to change electric guitar strings?

I have an electric guitar and strings i have probably not changed for around or over a year (except high E). I play for about 45mins-1hr a day and how do i know when is it time to change my strings? I have not noticed any different sounding of the strings since i put them on, at least i think so. My strings are not "dull" nor rusty. Please help me experienced guitarists!

as long as the strings are not losing their harmonics, and getting that "dead" sound and are not rusty, you're fine. I have been playing for 26 years, and I don't ever change the strings until they start to lost that "ring" which is caused by being so stretched out that the higher harmonics are no longer sounding. Just keep on pickin!

How to Play Guitar: The Basics : How to Change Guitar Strings

what are some places that will change guitar strings?

besides guitar center.
does toys r us do it?
or maybe some other place...
i tried to do it myself but when i was tuning it the string popped so i'd rather get it done professionally lol
toy r us is where i got my guitar from
so ha!
and dont say it must be cheap because it works wonderfully.

Toys R Us ? For a guitar? LOL
I Doubt Toys R Us are doing guitars these days

It is easy enough to do yourself. I am not sure if your string is popping cause it is over tight or if it was just popping out slack or maybe it was out of the nut and popped into place.
None the less, it isn't a real big deal, the string will break before any damage can be done to the guitar. Don't worry so much.

If you are still to scared, take your guitar to any guitar store and they will do it for you but it will cost you money , it really isn't worth it.
